In 1986 Alanis made a single called Fate Stay with I (b-side: Find The Right Man). She released two albums as dance-pop vocalists in Canada: Alanis (1991) and The Time Is The Time (1992). In the year she turned 18, she moved from the city of New York, to Toronto which is where her collaborative efforts with songwriters and musicians didn't work out. Glen Ballard was the producer/songwriter she chose in 1994. Glen was previously associated alongside Aretha Frankin, Michael Jackson and Barbra Strreisand. When she moved to LA the singer turned 19. Madonna's Maverick Records released the song "Jagged Little Pill" on June 13th 15th, 1995. Alanis found a way of recording songs that were very personal and autobiographical. It was a time of intense emotion-driven conflict (she might have considered not releasing an album) and made a trip in India.
